Battery Jump Start

A jump start to get your engine turning over again.

  • It clicks but will not turn over
  • Nothing at all when I turn the key
  • I left the lights onA jump gets you running. It does not say why it drained.
Red and black jumper clamps connected to a car battery under an open hood, with a portable jump pack on the bumper.

On the job

What actually happens

If your vehicle will not start and you think the battery is flat, we come to you and jump start it. We connect to your battery, get the engine running, and let it run long enough to confirm it is holding.

A jump start gets you moving now. It does not diagnose why the battery went flat. If the battery is at the end of its life, or something is draining it, the problem can come back the next time you shut the engine off. Tell us what happened and we will let you know what we can and cannot do on site.

Conditions

What has to be true before we drive out

You supply

Nothing. RoadResQ arrives with the equipment this job needs.

We need
  • We need safe access to your vehicle and its battery.
  • A jump start is not a battery replacement or an electrical diagnosis.

The form

What we ask when you request it

Your answers decide which equipment comes out with us. An accurate one gets the job done in one visit.

  1. What happens when you turn the key?

This helps us bring the right equipment. Pick the closest match.

Nothing at all — no sound, no lights · Rapid clicking · Engine turns over slowly, will not catch · Lights are dim or flickering · Not sure

  2. Were the lights or an accessory left on?

Yes · No · Not sure

We also ask where the vehicle is, a few details about it, and a name and number to reach you on. Sharing your location is optional; typing an address works just as well.

After you send it

What happens next

  1. It reaches us

Your request is saved with a reference and a link you can come back to.

  2. A person picks it up

The status says accepted only once somebody has accepted it, not when a message was sent.

  3. We drive out

The status moves to on the way, then arrived, as it happens.

  4. The job is done

You get the completion note and pay directly, at the vehicle.

RoadResQ is roadside assistance, not an emergency service. If anyone is hurt, or the vehicle is in a live traffic lane, call 911 first and get somewhere safe. What to do while you wait

Questions

Asked before people send a request

All questions
  • How do I request help?

Tap RESQ NOW anywhere on the site. You share your location, tell us what is wrong and a little about your vehicle, and leave a contact number. It takes about a minute and you do not need an account. If you would rather talk to a person, call us.

  • Do I need an account?

No. You can request help as a guest and track it from the link we give you.

  • How do I pay?

Payment is arranged directly with us at the time of service. We do not collect card details through this website.

  • Are your prices fixed?

The price shown for each service is the base price for that job, and it is the price you confirm when you send the request. If something on site means extra work — a stripped lug nut, for example — we tell you what it costs and you decide before we start. Nothing gets added without you agreeing to it.
